Cross-Border Cooperation Program Interreg Slovenia – Croatia aims to promote a sustainable, safe and vital border area and to encourage smart approaches to the conservation, mobilization and management of natural and cultural assets for the benefit of people who live and work or just visit the program area. Successful regional and border development is the goal of the European territorial cooperation program that also contributes to the integration process within the EU and the building of a European identity.

Project ECooL-Tour is worth EUR 829,360.00, of which The European Regional Development Fund covers 85% of the eligible costs. LAG Međimurski doli i bregi is with the ACT group from Čakovec a partner on the Croatian side, while on the Slovenian side the partners are CAAP (Center of Alternative and Autonomus Production) from Maribor, with the leading partner MOZAIK, the Social Inclusion Society from Murska Sobota.

The project will last for 30 months (from July 1st 2017), and during this period Slovenian and Croatian partners will carry out a series of joint activities that will link the existing initiatives in the field of sustainable tourism in the border region and form a model of cooperation in creating tourism products of the area, which will include both natural and cultural heritage.

Based on the activation and valorization of available natural and cultural values, the offer of sustainable tourism will be strengthened, entrepreneurial activity and economic cooperation will be encouraged, efficiency will be improved and the local population will be activated in preserving and sustainable use of local resources.
