POP-UP rural socio-innovative hubs

The project POP-UP rural socio-innovative hubs is approved within the Open Call “Support to the development of partnerships of civil society organizations and higher education institutions for the implementation of socially useful learning programs” funded by the European Social Fund.

The total value of the project is 1.194.848,89 HRK, with a 100% co-financing rate. LAG Međimurski doli i bregi is the leading partner, and other partners include ACT Group from Čakovec, VERN University of Applied Sciences from Zagreb, Križevci College of Agriculture, the Faculty of Organization and Informatics from Varaždin, and LAG Škoji from Hvar. The project implementation started on March 19th 2018, and will run for 24 months, until March 18th, 2020.

The project will stimulate the development of local rural communities through the launch of socio-innovative sustainable micro-entrepreneurial activities by using local resources to drive the local economy and stop migration from rural to urban areas. A sustainable partnership between higher education institutions and civil society organizations will be developed, and higher education institutions will be encouraged to become an active part of rural development.

At the same time, the capacities of civil society organizations and students will be strengthened. They will, through the developed methodology of pop-up rural socio-innovative hubs (a model of socially useful learning) encourage sustainable development activities in selected local communities, in this case the Municipality of Štrigova and the Municipality of Mala Subotica in Međimurje County and on the island of Vis in Split-Dalmatia County.

The project is co-funded by the European Union with the funds of the European Social Fund.
